National Green Grid

What is it?
The National Green Grid (NGG) is an initiative led by Argyll Data in partnership with Schneider Electric, built to unlock energy-constrained sites across the UK.
When projects are delayed or blocked by grid connection constraints, NGG provides a smarter alternative: a locally controlled microgrid powered by AI-enabled systems that can run in grid-synchronised or island mode.
This energy is delivered via private wire from renewable sources — usually within 25 km of the site — avoiding grid bottlenecks and accelerating development timelines.
NGG enables power to reach places the grid cannot — bringing energy to your project when you need it most.
-
Who is behind it?
NGG is driven by a powerful collaboration of leading infrastructure and technology partners:
Argyll Data – project development, site delivery, and edge computing
Schneider Electric – energy management systems, switching, and controls
AVEVA – advanced system intelligence and performance optimisation
Taylor & Fraser – civil engineering and energy delivery to site
Together, we assess the viability of land and assets for inclusion in the NGG portfolio — then deliver integrated power and compute infrastructure to unlock them.

Can I apply to look at this
Yes — we're currently welcoming landowners, operators, and developers to submit prospective sites for review.
We typically look for:
Sites within 25 km of a viable energy source
Projects blocked by grid capacity or connection delays
Early-stage developments in Scotland and northern UK regions
If you’re unsure whether your site qualifies — don’t worry. We’ll review it for free and let you know.
